Cornwall Holiday 10 To 17 September 2010 (00:00)
Organiser: Denise Distance(miles): 0 Description: Dorset Young Walkers are planning a one week holiday to Perranporth in Cornwall staying at a Holiday Park on the beach just north of the town. Accommodation will be in modern well-equipped static caravans in a Haven Holiday Park. There will be lots of opportunites for walking, especially along the South West Coastal Path as well as time to chill out and spend time on the beach, checking out local villages or visiting local attractions such as Blue Reef Aquarium, Healeys Cider Farm, Truro cathedral to mention but a few. The caravans are three bedroom with a sofa bed in the lounge area. The rooms are quite small and so I recommend that we only allocate 4 people to each van to enable us to have a room each with one person sleeping in the lounge (not a bad option as you have lots of room). Dates: Friday 10th Sept. to Fri 17th Sept.We can occupy the vans from 2.30pm onwards and leave by 10.00am the following Friday. This time span is a cheaper option than Sat to Sat and gives greater availability of vans. For further information please see: www.haven.com . The vans we will be staying in are the Prestige range at the Perran Sands site. It is located directly on the beach and has excellent facilities including indoor pools, bar, restaurant and other sports facilities. You can watch a video of the site on the website. Bed linen will be provided but you will need to bring your own towels and teatowels. Although we will organise some meals out, there will always be the option to self cater in the fully equipped kitchens. You will be informed of who else is in your van so that you have the chance to liaise and organise communal meals. We will also send out a list of all those going nearer the time so that carsharing can be organised as much as possible. The cost of the week will be £133 per person (accommodation only). I am happy to book the vans once we have batches of 4 people interested.I shall be taking bookings up until 30th June subject to availability at the site. Initially please email me at denise.pearson@sky.com to express your interest and I will reply with the address to send full payment cheques to. Please make them payable to myself Denise Pearson. No bookings will be made before receipt of full payment. There will be no refunds in the event that you change your mind about going unless a suitable replacement is found. During the period of June 4th to June 15th inclusive (when I am away)all enquiries should be addressed to Phil Channer at phil@channer93.freeserve.co.uk There is the possibility of a shorter stay of 3 nights ie long weekend Sept 10-13th in various types of accommodation at the site. If this is of interest to you I shall be happy to put interested parties in contact with each other to form groups but will not be undertaking these bookings myself. These can be made direct by yourselves via the Haven website.Anyone who decides after June 30th that they wish to go is most welcome to join us but they must also then make their own arrangements direct with Haven. NB:This holiday is only open to fully-paid up members of the Ramblers Association (by the start date of the trip). Start Point: Meet at Holiday Park. Grid Ref: SW764557 Walks Grade: N/A

Purbeck Walk - From Corfe Castle To Swanage Along The Ridge (10:45)
Organiser: Caroline Distance(miles): 7 Description: A lovely walk from Corfe Casle to Swanage along the ridge, with wonderful views of Purbeck and Poole Bay. There is a moderate ascent up to the top of the ridge, which is well worth the climb for the panaramic outlook we will find there. We will stop for a scenic lunch overlooking the bay, so please bring a packed lunch. We will continue to the world renowned, historic Swanage railway, and return in style on a steam train (£6 single ticket)! There will then be the opportunity to try out one of the delicious cakes at Corfe Castle Model Village Cafe or sample some the local beers at one of the village's excellent pubs. Start Point: Nearest postcode: BH20 5DW. Turn left off the A321 at the roundabout signposted 'Norden Steam Railway'. We will meet at the front of the station in the carpark (£2 day parking).
