Organiser: Andy    Distance(miles): n/a

Description: At short notice we've been able to find a camping site near Lyme Regis, Dorset on the weekend of August 13-15th that will take a party of us up to 20 for more legendary camping fun!

This is not an official joint group trip although it will be going on the DYW site and put on Hants 20-30s yahoo groups. Please reply ASAP to my email or my mobile via text 07733 547574 to confirm you are up for this...! Camping site is Monkton Wyld Caravan Park, Scotts Lane, Charmouth. Tel: 01297 631131 Website: www.monktonwyld.co.uk.

Its located about 3.5 miles north west of Charmouth, about 4 miles due north of Lyme Regis. About 1hr to 1hr 15 mins drive from Poole, 30-40 mins from Dorchester and I guess another hour from Portsmouth area. They have caravans and camping. They have a big camping field for tents which will open this weekend.

The camping field is very big, flat and full of lush green grass at the moment and we could all be placed together. It is close to the A35 so during the day there is some traffic noise in the distance but very little at night. Cars can be parked in the field next to tents.

At night the car entrance to the site closes at 11pm but they do have an area you can park if you want to come back later as long as it isn't many cars.

The shower/washing blocks are very modern and clean. No extra charge for showers. Barbecues are allowed as long as off the ground. The one thing need to point out is that the camping field is about a 2 minute walk to the shower block through a little wooded area with a proper path. You would need a torch at night as part of it is unlit. There are also hedges :o)

The reception has laminated walk routes about 8 of them covering walks of about 6-8 miles as they are used to having people there who like hiking. It is possible to walk to Charmouth or Lyme Regis and back and I have some other walks in the area in walking guides. We can provide details of walks nearer the time. Lyme Regis is an awesome town.

There is a pub called The Hunters Lodge a mile's walk away on the A35. The guy at the campsite says the food is good but to reserve well in advance if we are a big group. Suggest we all have dinner here on Friday evening which leaves Sat free for bbq or meal elsewhere. Cost: £10 per adult per night. Availability: at the moment they have 20 pitches (ie 20 tents) free on weekends of 13th-15th August. No availability BH weekend afraid.

Payment method: They state "Deposit of £25 per tent or 25% of total fee". I think for speed and simplicity it would be better if everyone paid the full fee upfront as we are only talking about £20 for 2 nights. They need to have full name for one person in each tent at time of booking. Deposit can be paid by credit card over the phone to the campsite itself please.

On the basis of the above we would like to offer the weekend of 13-15th August, 2 or 3 night trip. £10 per night. We need a quick response on this one ie by Monday 26th July at latest in order to get the best chance of availability. Please contact me ASAP and indicate how many nights and whether want pub meal on Friday 13th at the Hunters Lodge.
